In the same vein as The Hunger Games and Battle Royale, The Future Diary is a story about (mostly) young people who are caught up in a game where they must fight to the death to be granted the right to live. Originally released in Japan in 2011-2012, Funimation obtained the rights to stream the show, and also grabbed the home video distribution rights a short while after. Now, the company is moving to release the English dub cast of the series.

The cast list is as follows:

Yuki - Josh Grelle

Yuno - Brina Palencia

Deus Ex Machina - Kent Williams

Murmur - Leah Clark

Minene Uryuu/9th - Emily Neves

Aru Akise - Todd Haberkorn

Takao Hiyama/3rd - Jason Douglas

Keigo Kurusu/4th - Robert McCollum

Tsubaki Kasugano/6th - Kate Bristol

Yomotsu Hirasaka/12th - Ian Sinclair

Reisuki Houjo/5th - Lindsay Seidel

Karyuudo Tsukishima/10th - Mark Stoddard

Marco Ikusaba/7th - Brad Hawkins

Ai Mikami/7th - Jamie Marchi

Kamado Ueshita/8th - Monica Rial

John Balks/11th - Christopher Smith

Masumi Nishijima - J. Michael Tatum

Ouji Kosaka - Joel McDonald

Hinata Hino - Caitlin Glass

Mao Nonosaka - Ashleigh Domangue

Orin Miyashiro - Jad Saxton

Probably the role that is most anticipated to know the casting of is Yuno, who quickly became a fan favorite. While Brina Palencia (Romeo x Juliet, Steins;Gate) is a seasoned voice actress, she doesn’t generally have the moe-styled voice that fits the style of the character. Josh Grelle (Baka and Test) seems like a perfect fit for Yuki, having a nice older teen voice, and Emily Neves (Angel Beats!) has a voice that matches the insanity and the power the Minene has.

Another positive for the show is that the adapted script was led by J. Michael Tatum (Deadman Wonderland), a seasoned writer as well as actor.

The Future Diary centers on Yuki, a high schooler who discovers that his phone can now predict his future.  However, he is forced into a game, created by an entity known as Deus Ex Machina, who has recruited eleven other members to have similar diaries that have their own specific attributes. The rules of the game are simple: a winner is crowned when eleven of the twelve players are dead. The winner of Deus’s game will take his place as God of their world.

Part one (episodes 1-13) of The Future Diary is set to be released on August 13, while part two (14-26) has yet to be stated.
